Armando,
To introduce myself first, my name is Tom Hartmann, I'm an adult leader with the Sea Scout Ship 711, the Del Mar, of Newport Beach, California.
I'm writing today to help gather interest for the 2008 William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup. The event is held every 2 years in the United States.
We had scouts from Norway, New Zeland, and Australia compete this year, and in years past. Also, Sweden, Ireland, and the UK, have sent teams. groups from Saudi Arabia and Egypt were supposed to attend but could not obtain visas.
It truly is a great event. Kids from across the United States and the worl come together to race double-handed dinghies (420s). William Koch is the sponsor, himself winning the America's Cup in 1992.
Please look at the website below and see if this is something your unit might want to look into. In years past the Koch Cup has awarded grants to help international teams with the travel expenses, as well. If you have any questions, please ask. We want to make 2008 the best year yet. Please pass this notice along to any other sea scouts you can.

Tom Hartmann
